  • RERA is applicable to both residential and commercial real estate transactions;
  • RERA makes it mandatory for builders/developers to post all information relating to its projects on website such as project plan, layout, government approvals, land title status, sub-contractors to the project, schedule for completion with the State Real Estate Regulatory Authority;
  • Consumer is entitled to make complaint against Builder / Developer in case he fails to complete and handover the possession of the plots / flats / apartments etc. as per agreed terms.
  • Every project measuring more than 500 square metres or more than eight apartments will have to be registered under RERA;
  • The Builder / Developer cannot make any changes to the plan that had been sold without written consent of the buyer.
  • Consumer is entitled to recover all payments made to Builder / Developer along with interest and compensation in case he fails to complete the projects and fails to handover the possession within timeline.
  • The maximum jail term for a developer who violates the order of the appellate tribunal of the RERA is three years with or without a fine.
